Nestle fires romantic boss

The global food and beverage giant, Nestlé, has announced the immediate dismissal of its Chief Executive, Laurent Freixe, who was appointed just last September. The abrupt change in leadership stems from an internal investigation into an "undisclosed romantic relationship" between Freixe and a direct subordinate who is not on the executive board.

The inquiry was initiated through the company's confidential whistleblowing channel. It was overseen by Nestlé's chair, Paul Bulcke, and lead independent director, Pablo Isla, with assistance from independent outside counsel. The probe concluded that the relationship constituted a conflict of interest and breached the company's code of business conduct. Nestlé chair Paul Bulcke emphasized that the decision was "necessary" to uphold the company's values and strong governance foundations.


Succession and Business Continuity

Freixe, a veteran with nearly 40 years at the company, will not receive an exit package. To ensure a smooth transition, Nestlé has appointed Philipp Navratil, a long-serving executive with the company since 2001, as the new CEO. Despite the leadership change, the company's leadership maintains that there will be no alteration to the current business strategy.
